    {a wonderful saturday morning . . .}

    I knew my weekend was going to be absolutely CRAZY - a family portrait of six on Saturday afternoon then dinner with friends that night, and a maternity shoot followed by a 3 week old cutie on Sunday - phew! so I decided to start my Saturday morning off right and try something new. I have lived in Charlottesville since 1989 but have never went to the City Market that sets up every Saturday morning, April-September from 7am - 12am in the Water Street parking lot. I have heard so many good things about the market but anyone that really knows me, knows that I LOVE to sleep in on the weekends whenever I can, or I book myself for early morning sessions - so I never get to go. I am so very glad I made the choice to wake up super early and find a parking spot downtown before the craziness of the Dogwood Parade started as well as the traffic going to the FoxField races. I was amazed by the crowd, the diversity of people at the market and all the artists that were there. I met some amazing artists and felt truly inspired as I walked around and took the whole environment in. I brought my camera along with me in hopes of doing some abstract shots to document my first City Market experience and was thrilled when I came across the table for designer Amy Schilling, owner of Girls Day Out. Amy's work is adorable, girly, fresh, and colorful! Her prairie skirts are one-of-a-kind and the quality of craftsmanship is amazing. Amy's artistic eye for colors, patterns, and textures make her line unique and loved by any mom who has a little girl. Make sure to come by the City Market and check out her table as well as her shop on Etsy {yes! Etsy! I told you all the good artists are on there!} http://www.girlsdayout.etsy.com/ and stay up to date with what is going on with Girls Day Out by reading Amy's blog http://www.girlsdayoutamy.blogspot.com/
